$4.8M in funding enables software company Zenoss to add jobs in Austin

Flush with a new round of $4.8 million in venture capital, IT management software developer Zenoss Inc. plans to add 10 employees to its Austin office.

Among the 20 or so positions to be filled at the Austin office of Zenoss as well as its headquarters in Annapolis, Md., are software designers, sales representatives and marketing specialists, company spokesman Ray George says. The new hires in Austin will focus on product development and marketing.

The Austin office, at 6300 Bridgepoint Parkway, opened in 2008 with a small team and now has about 30 employees, George says.

“The office was originally dedicated to product development, but has been expanded in the last year to include marketing, sales, service and support personnel in addition to growing the development team,” George says.

Two years ago, Zenoss said it chose Austin for its first office outside Maryland because of the city’s “wealth of talent and access to expertise.”

Zenoss raised the $4.8 million from Grotech Ventures, Intersouth Partners Co., Boulder Ventures Ltd., Amplifier Venture Partners LP, Silicon Valley Bank and the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development’s Enterprise Investment Fund.

The privately held company picked up $11 million in funding in 2008 and $4.8 million in 2006.

Zenoss, founded in 2005, has nearly 300 corporate customers, including Rackspace Hosting Inc., VMware Inc., LinkedIn Corp., Motorola Inc. and Deutsche Bank.
